wapiti.net was started by Matthew and Kisha Miller when there was no other information available regarding the elk industry on the Internet.  The Millers raised elk in Colorado for eight years before moving to Montana. In September of 1999, wapiti.net was sold to the Bartels.

We are Don, Gayle, Joshua & Stephanie Bartel. We have been raising elk here on our Kansas farm, Animal Acres, since 1991. We have a wide variety of computer skills between us and are very excited about the opportunity to put that experience to use in the elk industry that we love so much!

We intend to maintain the same friendly, informative type of site that Matt & Kisha have built and hope to make the site more valueable to the elk industry. We will be giving it a new "look" over the next few months and have plans to post more information more often. Our goal is to make wapiti.net a valuable tool for the elk rancher and a comprehensive information site for others.
