Message Title: Sudan Grass?

I grew just over an acre last year that I rotationally grazed, and it grows so fast that even though I had 13 cows and their calves on it, they couldn't keep up with it. There are some potential problems with it. One is if it gets droughty, it can become toxic with too high of nitrate levels, also you can't let it head out or graze after freezing due to potential toxic problems. To avoid those problems, one could choose Japanese Pearl Millet instead, which wouldn't have quite the tonnage of the improved Sudan grasses, but is pretty simular otherwise without the toxic worries Sudan grass can run into. If you went through the topic section at you could find a picture I took of elk in Sudan grass last year.
