You state that the calf is cold. What is his body temp.? If less than 38.5 C. then he is hypothermic and needs warmed up using an external heat source.(A heat lamp is a waste of time unless he is only slightly cold). Use a hot box or warm water bath at a temp. of 40-41 degrees C.to warm him up. New borns are not very efficient at maintaining their temp. especially if their lacking nutrition - once their core temp. drops below 37.5-38.0 degrees they are unable to generate enough heat to get themselves going again. Good luck.
