Newborn calves should preferably have colostrum within 12 hours of birth. The stomach wall changes soon after this time so it is unable to absorb the large colostrum particles. After 1 1/2 days without colostrum, the calf may not be able to absorb it and get the antibodies and other benefits provided from the mother.
I hope you are lucky enough to save this calf, but our experience is not good when a calf has not received colostrum within a day of birth.
